Day 1 of the inaugural Disney Cocktailor Research Trip was dedicated to the bars and lounges located on Disney’s Boardwalk. If you find yourself strolling the Boardwalk, you might consider stopping by Big River Grille & Brewing Works — if you’re a beer drinker, that is …
We rolled up to Big River around lunchtime and sat at the bar tended by Carlos, who’s been bartending for 13 years — the last 3 at BRG. Carlos was great! He was very friendly, and when he learned why we were there, he steered us to the following cocktails:
- Pineapple Mojito – Malibu Pineapple Rum, fresh Mint, Pineapple, Fresh-squeezed Lime Juice, and a splash of Soda
- Blueberry Lemonade – Stoli Blueberi Vodka, fresh Blueberries, and Mint shaken with Lemon Juice and Sugar
- Cuban Mojito – Bacardi Limón and Sugar muddled with fresh Lime and Mint. Add Strawberry or Peach
The cocktails were well made. Each was light and crisp, as lemonades and mojitos should be. The Pineapple Mojito was particulary refreshing (Mrs. Cocktailor said she would order it again). The Cuban Mojito can be ordered as a ‘classic’ mojito with the option to add strawberry or peach. I ordered it with Peach and it was a bit too sweet. The Blueberry Lemonade was quite good with a generous pour of Stoli Blueberi Vodka.
While we were not disappointed with our drinks, there are better options for cocktails on the Boardwalk.
However, if you are a beer lover, this might be your place. BRG offers a variety of beers on tap as well as a tasting flight to sample 4-ounce pours of their craft brews which rotates seasonally and is truly tank to table. Big River Grille craft beers are made on-site by their local Brewsmaster and each beer has its own unique story. It’s part art, part science, and part obsession that makes them devote themselves to making the best beer for their guests.
So next time you find yourself at Disney’s Boardwalk in need of a beer and bar food, head to Big River Grille & Brewing Works — especially if you can snag one of the outdoor tables. There is no better spot to relax and people watch than the Boardwalk.
This family-friendly microbrewery and restaurant serves award-winning beers and fresh twists on American pub favorites.
